Love is the third strand of a healthy and lasting friendship. Love is the most important teaching of Christ. He told us to love one another as He loves us.
Consider the love chapter, Chapter Thirteen, from St. Paul's first letter to the Corinthians. Love is the most important trait of a Christian life. "Love is patient and kind... Love rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."
Love is the blossom of faith, by believing in yourself, your fiancé and in God. Love is the flower of hope by enduring and persevering. Love is the garden where the presence and power of God in you blooms into a marriage of lasting joy, peace, security and happiness.
My 3 Strands – Love, Faith and Hope
You are made in the image and likeness of God. God exists as Three persons – God or Abba the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Every Christian engagement involves three persons – you, your fiancé and God. Every Christian marriage includes God, the husband and wife.
When you marry and have children, you will generate new life and start the process again for your children and the future generations. This is a special time when you will weave a tapestry of three strands – God, you and your spouse with a new child for future generations.
God loves both of you. God believes in both of you. God’s hope in who you are and what your life will become promises a marvelous future that brings new life to you and others.
Your engagement is special. Your friendship is beautiful. Focus on getting to know each other; focus on getting to know God together. Your 3 strands of love, faith and hope are the gifts to unwrap and use as you approach your wedding day.
